Meet Shaheen Auckbaraullee, our Interim Executive Director!

Announcing Shaheen Auckbaraullee as Interim Executive Director of Nisa Foundation

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Shaheen Auckbaraullee as Interim Executive Director of Nisa Foundation, effective October 1st, 2024. With an impressive background in nonprofit leadership and a steadfast dedication to advancing social justice, Shaheen is stepping into this role at a pivotal time for our organization.  

Shaheen brings with her over 13 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, where she has successfully led programs and initiatives that uplift and empower marginalized communities. In addition to her expertise in community development and organizational leadership, Shaheen’s background includes over 20 years of combined experience in HR, project management, business consulting, people management, and training and development. Her passion for creating inclusive spaces aligns perfectly with the mission of the Nisa Foundation.  

As Interim Executive Director, Shaheen will guide our team through this period of transition, ensuring the continuity of our critical programs, Nisa Homes, Helpline, and Learning. Under her leadership, we remain committed to addressing the unique challenges faced by the most vulnerable members of our community and to expanding the reach of our culturally responsive services nationwide.  

We are confident that Shaheen’s leadership will further strengthen the impact of our work and help drive our vision forward during this transitional phase.

Next steps for the selection of a permanent Executive Director:

The Nisa Foundation Board thanks the stakeholders, Yasmine Youssef and staff who supported the search and selection process to fill the interim position. The Board will initiate a comprehensive search for a permanent Executive Director that will invite internal and external candidates, and we will provide an update once recruitment arrangements are confirmed.

We are excited to have her take on this critical leadership responsibility as part of a dedicated team of passionate individuals committed to advancing the mission of the Nisa Foundation.
